Everware, Inc. releases the first Enterprise Component Starter Kit for COOL:Gen

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FAIRFAX, VA and ATLANTA, GA - May 21, 2001 — Everware, Inc. releases the first Enterprise Component Starter Kit Integration CD for users of CA’s COOL:Gen application tool. The Starter Kit provides infrastructure-level software components that significantly accelerate the development of applications.

At the EDGE US 2001 Conference held in Plano, Texas, April 29 – May 1, Everware delivered their Component Starter Kit Integration CD. Designed around CA’s COOL:Gen application development tool, the Component Starter Kit allows a user to “test drive” the actual integration of software components into an application written using COOL:Gen. Included on the CD are six components (Audit History, Communication Address, Exception Handling, Global Code, Instance ID Generator, Security), specifications, and documentation. Upon completing the “test drive,” developers will have a solid understanding of the ease with which component-based applications can be assembled and the tremendous productivity to be gained from application assembly using pre-built Enterprise Components.

Everware’s Component-Based Development (CBD) approach transforms traditional systems development by converting software professionals from “constructors of raw code” into consumers of components. Using pre-engineered, pre-tested software components, CBD employs a plug-and-play approach that allows developers to choose from a pool of components – from either in-house or outside vendors – to create custom applications. CBD delivers a unique alternative to the “build vs. buy” argument by furnishing a third way: assemble with components.

While Everware’s current set of Enterprise Components are targeted at COOL:Gen developed systems, a future set of components will be targeted at Java-based applications assembled using Enterprise Java Beans in a J2EE Application Server environment. These new Java Enterprise Components will be used with Everware’s Co-habitation Approach to enable the assembling of “Web Facing” applications using a variety of bought, built, and/or wrapped components.

Everware’s commitment to Component-Based Development (CBD) has made it a leader in component engineering. As a charter Member of the Component Advisory Board, and a key contributor to the Component-Based Development Standards Committee, Everware helped develop the international CBD guidelines and standards that are used by component provisioners and customers worldwide.

Founded in 1997, Everware, Inc. is a Consulting Services Provider focused on enabling Component-based solutions through its integration services and pre-built Enterprise Components.
